Peer Productions co-founder and co-director Nina Lemon has been working in theatre and education for over ten years. She read Drama and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway University of London and has since completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Directing Text with Young People at Central School of Speech and Drama. Nina has also trained in child protection, as a chaperone and as an Arts Award Advisor.
She has previously worked as Arts Development Officer for The Camberley Theatre(Surrey Heath Borough Council) where her role included being Artistic Director for Xpress Theatre for young people aged 5 – 25 years. During her three years in the role, youth theatre membership increased from 100 to 250 and she launched new groups and projects for those with learning disabilities, gifted and talented students and those aged 16+. She also set up the VOICES youth arts festival. VOICES 06 included a youth theatre schools tour of The Laramie Project designed to combat homophobic bullying.
Nina has also worked as Community Arts Manager for Blatchington Mill - a specialist status performing arts school - where she was responsible for running artist in residence schemes and facilitating relationships between professional companies, individual artists and schools. She has worked extensively as a freelance practitioner with educational and community groups.
Nina has also worked as a professional director and was co-artistic director of Fruits of the Womb Productions for six years for whom she wrote, directed and produced various new productions which have been performed in fringe, studio, community and educational settings.
