Movie Premiere Extravaganza!
9th July 2008
On Wednesday the 9th of July Woking Youth Arts Centre was the most glamourous place in Woking as Peer Productions held the red carpet premiere of 'The Homophobia Project'. This film has been almost entirely crewed, cast and edited by young people - many of whom have never worked on a film before. Peer Productions' full time volunteer Sian Smith said 'It was an amazing night which was a fantastic celebration of all that we have achieved. It was so exciting to see the sound that I worked so hard on be put on a big screen, and to hear the audience clapping at the end was just brilliant!'
The film has involved young people from all over Surrey and beyond, including over 60 extras from local schools. It is aimed at Year 9+ audiences as a tool to explore homophobia and to tackle prejudice and promote tolerance. The finished product will be available free to schools in Surrey in the autumn. It will also be available to schools outside Surrey to purchase. For more information please contact admin@peerproductions.co.uk.
