Paid Actors Wanted For The Teenage Pregnancy Project
16th December 2011
Having successfully toured the play to schools across the South East for the past four years we are now looking for dynamic young actors to take The Teenage Pregnancy Project nationwide. The play will tour from February to June 2012, starting in Surrey and the surrounding areas, before moving on to other locations across England. We are looking for 8 actors (4 male, 4 female) for this tour. Please see casting breakdown. All actors must be over 18 years old and be willing to undertake a CRB check. Drivers with access to their own vehicles are desirable. All cast will also act as crew for the production. Peer Productions strives to be an Equal Opportunities employer. We particularly welcome applications from actors who are black, asian or mixed race.

Dani: Female actor who can play age 16 (but is over 18) with brilliant comic timing and an excellent singing voice (preferably with soprano range). ‘Chavvy’ Dani wanted to be pop star but her dreams were cut short when she fell pregnant at fifteen.

Lucy:Female actor with playing age 14 years (but must be over 18). Public school girl Lucy is eight months pregnant but her parents are hiding her pregnancy from their neighbours and friends. A strong singing voice is desirable. Lucy must have a ‘posh’ RP voice.

Harry/Various: Male actor with playing age 19 years (must be over 18) to take on the role of young Dad Harry and various other comedic roles. We are looking for an all rounder who can bring a likable vulnerability to Harry but also bring the house down with vicious caricature and slapstick. A strong singing voice is desirable. Any accent.
Darren/Various: Male actor with playing age under 21 (must be over 18) to take on the role of Darren, who loves his daughter but is so frustrated with his situation that he is violent towards her mother Sarah, as well as various other comedic roles. We are looking for an all rounder who can be genuinely intimidating as Darren but also bring the house down with vicious caricature and slapstick. A strong singing voice is desirable. Any accent.
Ben/ Various: Male actor with playing age under 21 (must be over 18) to take on the role of Ben, who is not allowed to see his baby or his girlfriend, as well as various other comedic roles.
