Christopher Bryant

Peer Productions youth theatre leader Christopher Bryant has worked for Peer Productions since its creation in 2006. Although he is involved with all age groups, he specialises in those aged 8-12years.

His experience in theatre and education began while still at school, where he acted in and directed many plays. From 1995 to 1998, he attended the University of Plymouth, where he took English and Drama. He took advantage of his time at university to run the drama society and was involved in film and theatre productions including Jim Cartwright's To, Godspell, The Hot Mikado and multimedia performance Signal To Noise.

He continued his training at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, where he gained a postgraduate acting diploma and subsequently worked as a professional actor for several years. During this time, amongst other TV, theatre and other projects, he became involved in Theatre In Education, working with Hurricane Productions on a show which toured to schools around the home counties.

He continued along this road by joining specialist T.I.E. providers Bigfoot Theatre Company in 2002, before joining the Camberley Theatre's youth theatre in 2003. He worked at Camberley until 2006 and directed shows including Twelfth Night, The Gut Girls, The Chrysalids and The Comedy Xpress. He was also one of the regular workshop leaders for The Compass Theatre in Hillingdon from 2005 to 2006, where he co-directed The Snow Queen and Revolting Rhymes.

Chris's experience in T.I.E. also led to him doing a PGCE in 2004 at Brunel University. He has worked as a full-time teacher ever since and has been employed by The Licensed Victuallers' School in Ascot since 2005, where he also runs an after-school drama club for years 5-8.

He is also a writer and has been a regular contributor to Newsrevue (a long-running comedy show based at The Canal Cafe Theatre in North London) since 2001 and The Treason Show (based in Brighton) since 2003. He also adapted Twelfth Night for a young cast while at Camberley and A Midsummer Night's Dream for Peer Productions in 2008.
