Dark Tale About to Get Even Darker
The magical world of Philip Pullman's books His Dark Materials will entertain audiences at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking from May 23 to 26.
Part Two of the show, which follows the journey of a young girl named Lyra, will be performed by youth theatre group, Peer Productions, which has been working on a number of school drama projects.
The group performed the first part of His Dark Materials in February and will now complete the story with part two.
Peer General Manager Claire Tristram said: "We have re-opened the books and have some great new actors. The start of part two begins with a synopsis of part one so if you missed the first one you will be able to pick up the main points of the story. The play follows Lyra and the main difference in this part is that she visits the Land of the Dead so the story is a bit darker. It is still a family show."
The cast of 65 enthusiastic members have been rehearsing hard for the performances. Claire added "Join Lyra and Will as they complete their journey through parallel worlds towards a breathtaking climax, which will stay with you long after the curtain has fallen. It is exciting to see what happens to Lyra and to see how important she is as a character. The children have really enjoyed working on the play and because we have some new actors as others had to take breaks due to exams, it's been great seeing them work together."
