Women and Non-Binary Playwrights for ‘Forgotten Women’ Podcasts

We are developing Forgotten Women – a new podcast series that celebrates 100 years of the British women that history has pushed into the margins. Working together with heritage partners, professional actors and our talented young artists from our Actor Development Programme, we intend to release 10 podcasts over the next two years, bringing to life the stories of women whose remarkable contributions have remained unsung. We are currently developing a pilot, and are in the process of applying for funding to support collaborating artists.

We are looking for self-identified women and non-binary playwrights, who would be interested in collaborating with us and our heritage partners to develop this exciting project, and are seeking expressions of interest from playwrights who would like to be included in our initial funding bids. We aim to unearth the untold stories of a wide range of women, and are particularly interested in stories of women who are LGBTQ+ and/or BAME and/or disabled: we welcome applications from women and non-binary playwrights who reflect those backgrounds.

Progression of this project is subject to funding. We envisage that playwrights will be paid in the region of £1,000 to £1,500 for their contribution, for which we expect between 25 and 45 minutes of material. Playwrights will be expected to work collaboratively and attend sessions with heritage partners and our young actors, for which expenses will be paid. As we are keen to include playwrights with disabilities, we will also be budgeting for access costs.

To apply, please email Associate Director, Rebecca Alloway at rebecca@peerproductions.co.uk with:
