The Alcohol Project
April 2011 - present
With alcohol abuse and antisocial behaviour ongoing issues for teenagers, as well as their experience of alcohol at home and its impact on families, Peer Productions will explore the health, social, emotional and economic impact of alcohol. How can we, as artists and educators, empower Year 9 students, equipping them the knowledge and skills to make informed choices and reach out for support if they need it?
Peer Productions' directors together with our young actors ran drama workshops with secondary school pupils and worked with those who have first hand experience of the problems of alcohol misuse. Peer Productions also researched local and national information to explore links between participants’ stories and the official statistics.
From this research the actors worked with our directors to devise an educational touring production which is designed to be performed in a school hall.
This 90 minute musical that is currently in its second year of touring.
