The Body Image Project
May 2012 - July 2012
The Body Image Project in association with the Succeed Foundation
A recent survey of young women and the University of Western England showed that nearly a third would trade at least one year of their lives in exchange for the perfect body shape. It's not just girls, research suggests that the number of boys developing eating disorders is growing too. Young people today are bombarded by conflicting information from the media and world around them. We have soaring obesity rates and yet with eating disorders responsible for the highest number of deaths from psychiatric illness in the UK, many young people are literally starving themselves to death. This project is designed to raise awareness of eating disorders and the effect of negative body image, as well as empowering young people to ask for help.
