James Ball
Creative Facilitator
James is a freelance theatre director and facilitator. His directing credits include: THE FLAT EARTHERS (Brighton Fringe), ALL THAT (Kings Head Theatre), ARE YOU BEING MURDERED? (Pleasance, Edinburgh Fringe), WILL PICKVANCE: HALF-MAN HALF-PIANO (Assembly, Edinburgh Fringe), KISSED BY A FLAME (Pleasance, London), POSITIVE (Waterloo East Theatre). He has directed productions at notable drama schools including PUNKROCK, BUCKETS (Court Theatre Training Company), WONDER OF THE WORLD (Royal Welsh College Music & Drama).
As an Associate Director, he has worked predominantly with director Michael Fentiman and their work together includes the Olivier and Grammy-nominated AMELIE THE MUSICAL (UK-Ireland Tour / Other Palace / West End), THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE (UK-Ireland Tour/West End /Birmingham Rep), THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (West End), LOOT (Park Theatre),and THE FALL OF ANNE BOLEYN (Tower of London). James was Assistant Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company for the revival production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL by David Edgar.
James founded Speechless Theatre Company devising original plays-with-no-words based on clowning, mime, and physical theatre. He also works at Chichester Festival Theatre supporting their youth company and working as lead practitioner on the 'Chatterbox' programme which uses theatre to combat social isolation for elderly groups.
